How to use the Student Number Picker
The student number picker draws from 1 through the class size without retyping a roster. With repeats disabled, each result is removed from the pool until every number has appeared once.
How it works
Most processing stays in your browser instead of sending inputs to our server. Verify important financial or contractual decisions against an authoritative source.
Step-by-step
- 01Enter the class size; use the Random Wheel instead when the number list has gaps.
- 02Disable repeats for one pass through the class, or enable them to draw from everyone each round.
- 03Review history and remaining numbers, then reset for a new activity.
Worked example
INPUT30 students; repeats disabled
RESULT29 remain after the first draw
After 30 draws every number has appeared exactly once and drawing stops.Limits and checks
- For absent or non-sequential numbers, enter the exact list in the Random Wheel.
- For graded or consequential decisions, consider fairness factors beyond randomness.
Useful examples
- Choose the next student to present
- Create a no-repeat problem-solving order
- Randomly call on a student in class
Frequently asked questions
How does no-repeat mode work?
Each drawn number is removed from the remaining pool and cannot appear again until you reset.
What happens if I change the class size?
The draw history and remaining pool reset automatically to keep the next draw fair.
