How to use the Date Calculator

A date difference looks like simple calendar counting, but including both endpoints changes the answer by one day. This tool normalizes dates as UTC calendar values to avoid shifts caused by daylight saving or local clock time.

How it works

End date − start date = days between dates

Most processing stays in your browser instead of sending inputs to our server. Verify important financial or contractual decisions against an authoritative source.

Step-by-step

  1. 01Choose the start and end dates.
  2. 02Enable ‘Include the end date’ when the schedule counts both endpoints.
  3. 03Review calendar days, weeks, weekdays and weekend days together.

Worked example

INPUTAugust 1, 2026 → August 10, 2026

RESULT9 days by default; 10 days when inclusive

A hotel stay commonly excludes checkout day, while some employment periods count both endpoints.

Limits and checks

  • A statute or contract's own counting rule takes priority.
  • Public holidays vary by country and year and are not automatically removed from weekday totals.

Useful examples

  • Count the days until a trip
  • Check the length of a project
  • Compare weekdays and weekend days

Frequently asked questions

Does the calculator include the start date?

The default calculation excludes the start date. Turn on the inclusive option to count both endpoints.

Can time zones change the answer?

No. The calculation uses calendar dates only, so time zones and daylight saving time do not shift the result.
